  • Robert Borsak Nominated to Replace Roy Smith in NSW Legislative Council

Following the sudden passing of Roy Smith, the Shooters and Fishers Party has been compelled to nominate a replacement in the Council. The Party met last weekend and will be nominating Mr Robert Borsak to fill the casual vacancy.

Mr Borsak is President of the Shooters and Fishers Party and Chairman of Game Council New South Wales. He will relinquish the Game Council position on being confirmed as a member of the Council. Earlier this year, he had been nominated second, behind Robert Brown MLC, on the Shooters and Fishers Party ticket for next March's State election.

Mr Borsak will continue the important work on firearms legislation reform that Roy had been pursuing, and will sponsor Roy's latest bill, introduced just weeks before his passing, through the House. Following on from his first Bill which was passed last year, Roy had been negotiating with the relevant ministers for some months, and agreement had nearly been reached on a number of the changes he wants made. The Government may not accept all of the points Roy had included in the Bill, but we will push as hard as we can to get a fair deal for firearm owners.
