Coal Keeps Australia in the Black

Shooters and Fishers Party Chairman Mr Robert Borsak has slammed the economic naivety of the Green’s plan to ban coal fired power stations in NSW.

“The Greens are dreaming – as a minority party they have no means to implement these pie-in-the-sky schemes. It’s just another Green power trip – not an alternative energy road map,” said Mr Borsak.

Coal mining revenue is a huge part of our economy and the power it generates via power stations drives industry and jobs in NSW.

“We need the income and electricity to keep the lights on in NSW homes and businesses. It’s that simple,” said Mr Borsak.

“Labor’s done their worst for NSW for 16 years, now the Greens want to knife the State economy by destroying at least 500,000 jobs to create 75,000. It’s insane, more voodoo economics from the Greens,” said Mr Borsak.

“The Greens put themselves above other politicians – but this plan to kill coal fired power and create a brave new world of solar power is nothing more than a cynical vote-grabbing promise they can’t deliver on,” added Mr Borsak.

Mr Borsak says the Shooters and Fishers Party has no such illusions about their role under the incoming Coalition Government: “We’ll work with the Government of the day to reduce carbon emissions and develop clean energy, but we’ll do it in a way that builds the economy and creates new jobs not subsidised by the NSW taxpayer, not destroys them,”

“Unfortunately, we can’t just flick a switch and change from one power source to another – large scale infrastructure change like this will take longer than 25 years,”

"Voters need to carefully consider their vote for the Upper House, and be mindful that a vote for the Greens favours carbon taxes to increase the cost of everything, and will shut down the coal mining industry," Mr Borsak said.
