The Institute of Criminology released its latest report on firearm theft in January, and again highlighted the fact that some licensed shooters are not storing their guns properly. It goes without saying that anyone not properly securing their firearms are letting the side down.
The report found lax home security, people keeping weapons in unlocked cars and even under their pillows, contributed to an increase in the national gun theft rate.
The damning comment from the report however, was “
Many owners continued to demonstrate carelessness or negligence in securing unattended firearms, leaving them in unlocked or easily penetrated storage or making no perceived effort to conceal or safeguard the firearm at all.”
