Is it true? nah couldn't be...nah!
Had an interesting story told to me the other day about the possibility of ALL ranges banning the calibers over the 30 cal, that is things like the 338's etc. Which is in place now at the S.S.A.A. range at Silverdale.
How are you supposed to get the required number of shoots up for the FAR requirements?
If you are not able to carry out this activity then how are you to check your firearm BEFORE you go into the field.
As far as I am concerned that should be carried out before you leave for any shooting trip to make sure that all your rifles are still sighted in.All responsible shooters should do this.
As far as I am aware, there is no restriction placed on the Silverdale range, with the exception of the .50 cals.by the Fire Arms Registry(FAR)
From what I have been told, this restriction WAS placed on the SSAA members that attend this range by the NSW SSAA not the FAR, but I cannot seem to get anyone to confirm it officially either by the FAR or the SSAA.
The time frame that was given was about the end of the year when these calibers would not be able to be used on any range in NSW.
If this is so, then the shooting fraternity should feel that we have all been sold out to our own organisation for some obscure reason.
Perhaps The Shooters Party representatives, Roy and Robert, may be able to get some kind of information on this as there are a lot of shooters out there with these calibers that feel that:
"nobody loves me and I have been hung out to dry, yet again".
Surely the SSAA would not want to be seen as doing the FAR's or the NSW Government's WORK FOR THEM, in screwing over Licenced Firearms Owners even more than we already are, I would hope not anyway.
If Roy or Robert could help with this problem I'm sure it would be beneficial to all.
Regards
