Just like to thank Robert Brown MLC for his achievement of reviving fishing in rural NSW through the organising of the Select Committee on Recreational Fishing. This is the first time the "bushies" have had a chance to voice our opinions on our great sport.
I am secretary of one of the fishing clubs which participated and forwarded a submission. Even though we did not get exactly what we set out to achieve, we finally had the chance to have a say.
We are based close to the Murrumbidgee and Lachlan rivers and were mainly interested in reviving the set line rule which was changed in 2007 with a 0.7% vote by the "greenies"(thats right 0.7%), since this new law has come in to force the country fishing clubs have been doing it tough with all the older fisho's pulling out and looking for another sport to pass their time, just hope down the track we can get things back as they have been for generations.
