Am I the only person to be a little concerned about the aggressive approach taken by the S&FP so early after the great election victory?
I agree with all the reported aims of the party. I have been a shooter for 50 years, hold an R licence, and have been totally disappointed with the slow erosion of the opportunities for shooting by successive governments which have been influenced by anti shooting people.
But I think that a more restrained and cautious approach is needed to educate the public. Laying down a list of demands will alienate people since the media will beat it up and make us look like rednecks, which most of us are not.
OK, I am not a politician, so maybe the strategy is a good one, but I must say, take it a bit slower please. We have several years. The last three went well. The media loves to stir things up, and they will be the mouthpeice of the Watermelons. Public perception is everything.
