Shooting for school sport
Suggesting target shooting as a sport for secondary school students in NSW is guaranteed to result in a mob of village idiots massing in the Balmain to Marrickville brain dead zone. Its true that vegetarianism can produce some vicious brutes, but few things seem to provoke as much outrage amongst them, except perhaps depriving a cat of its daily meal in a National Park.
As usual, their outrage is midirected. Target shooting has always been done by students in schools in NSW. Just not by students attending poorly funded public schools. After all rifles cost money and transporting students to ranges isn't cheap either. Its a lot less expensive to give them a basketball to throw around for 40minutes. Which is why shooting is offered at Sydney Grammar(Malcolm Turnbull's old school) but not Mt Druitt High (no offence intended).
" As nightfall does not come all at once, neither does oppression. In both instances, there is a twilight when everything remains seemingly unchanged. And it is in such twilight that we all must be most aware of change in the air — however slight — lest we become unwitting victims of the darkness.
